New York City man charged with possessing a forged check

Wappinger, New York – On July 19, 2017, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Virgil Barber, age 26, of Manhattan, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

An investigation revealed that Barber used an alias and attempted to cash a forged check at a local bank.

Barber was arraigned at the Town of Fishkill Court. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. Barber’s next court appearance was scheduled for July 25, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Town of Wappinger Court.
