PRESS RELEASE
**UPDATE**

We regret that due to the funeral for Trooper Joel R. Davis, the Troop K Centennial Open House scheduled for July 15, 2017 has been rescheduled.

On July 9, 2017, the State Police suffered a great loss when Trooper Joel R. Davis was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty. The New York State Police will honor Trooper Davis at his funeral in Watertown, New York on July 15, 2017.

We have re-scheduled the Troop K Centennial Open House for Sunday, July 16, 2017.

The open house will feature a variety of old and new State Police equipment including: Vintage patrol cars, historic memorabilia, the S.O.R.T Bearcat armored vehicle, as well as demonstrations by our Canine Unit, SCUBA Team, S.O.R.T Team, Mounted Unit, and State Police Aviation Unit.  Members of our Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, Computer Crimes Unit, and Collision Reconstruction Unit will be available to answer the public’s questions.

Free parking will be available north of the State Police barracks at the Institute of Ecosystems Studies, 4799 Route 82 in Salt Point. There will be vans to shuttle guests to and from the event.

Additionally, a State Police recruiter will be available to answer any questions about the upcoming State Police examination which is scheduled for October of 2017. Anyone who is interested in applying can go to our website www.NYTrooper.com .

For media inquiries regarding the open house, contact Trooper Melissa McMorris by calling (845) 677-7430.
