Renee L. Nelsen of Dover Plains, NY and formerly of Mahopac, NY passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the age of 92. She was born in Carmel, NY on June 22, 1925, the daughter of Wallace and Emma McCollum Ganong.
Renee worked as a clerk and secretary for the Selective Service in Carmel until her retirement. She was active in the Union Valley Cemetery Association where she held the positions of treasurer and secretary. She was also a member of the Tally-Ho Homeowners Association in Dover Plains. Renee liked to have parties and liked to be around people.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Gardinier and her husband John of Minerva, NY and Patricia Usmiller-Adamson and her husband Allen of Irvine, CA, her grandchildren David Sr. (Elaine), John (Cheryl) and Brian Gardinier and her great grandchildren David Jr., Jennifer and Aleynah. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Usmiller in 1984 and her second husband, Morten Nelsen in 2007 as well as her brother, Wallace in 2012.
Family will receive friends on Thursday July 13, 2017 from 2-3 pm at the Chapel of Union Valley Cemetery, 730 Union Valley Road, Mahopac where Funeral Services will commence at 3 pm. Interment will follow on the cemetery grounds at the conclusion of the service.
