19th Annual Celebration of Aging

In celebration of Older Americans Month, earlier this week the Dutchess County Office for the Aging (OFA) awarded several local residents “Senior Citizen of the Year” honors at the its 19th annual Celebration of Aging. More than 300 Dutchess County residents attended the sold-out event at the Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls.

The annual Celebration of Aging recognizes outstanding contributions seniors make to Dutchess County. County Executive Marc Molinaro presented the Senior Female of the Year award to Jane Cole Geisler of Verbank, the Senior Male of the Year award to John Thomas of Hyde Park , and the Senior Couple of the Year award to Carol and Nick Annas of Red Hook. Residents of Castle Court at Concord Village in Poughkeepsie received a Senior Achievement Award for their work on behalf of local scouting groups and American troops overseas.

Also honored at the event were four Dutchess County couples celebrating marriages of 71, 72, 74 and 77 years, and seven residents between the ages of 100 and 102. We congratulate all those who were honored for their continued contributions to Dutchess County, and we thank all who helped make this year’s Celebration of Aging a success!
