Obituary, Francis “Chick” Vaughan

 

 

Missoula Montana – Francis “Chick” Vaughan died peacefully at Saint Patrick’s Hospital on April 2, 2017 in Missoula, MT at the age of 87.

Chick was born on June 16, 1929 in Amenia, NY to John and Agnes Vaughan and is survived by wife, Barbara at home in Turah, MT; Daughter, Patricia Andrews of Huson, MT and son, William Vaughan of Missoula MT; Brother Robert Vaughan of Hyde Park, NY and sister Mary Bennett of  Orangeburg, NY; 5 grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren  and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents and a brother.

He attended Webutuck High School and then served 2 years in the Army based in Germany. He married Barbara Barrett in 1953. He worked for the Wassaic Developmental Center and retired in 1982 and moved to Montana. He began working for Saint Patrick’s Hospital as a Surgical Tech and retired in 2004.

Chick had a passion for baseball and played for local Gateway Credit Union over 45 Club up till 2 years ago where he finally hung up his glove to continue to watch his NY Yankees. He loved Hockey and the NY Islanders and in the Fall found him changing channels between them and the NY Giants. Chick was a member of the American Legion Post 319 and past post commander of the same.  Was a member of Saint Ann’s Church in Bonner,MT.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday April 6th from 6pm-7pm and the Vigil will start at 7PM both at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonner.  The funeral is scheduled for April 7th at 11am at St. Ann’s Church in Bonner with Father Michael Poole officiating. A reception to follow with. Graveside services after at Sunset Memorial Gardens. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Chick’s life.
