Walden man charged with vehicluar manslaughter 2nd

PRESS RELEASE

State Police at Montgomery announce the arrest of Dennis E. Wilson Jr, age 32, from Walden, NY. Mr. Wilson was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd – Class D Felony, Driving While Intoxicated – Misdemeanor, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

On March 4, 2017, the New York State Police where requested by the Town of Montgomery Police Department to assume a fatal motor vehicle accident investigation. The accident occurred on RT-52 near Rider Road in the Town of Montgomery. Investigation revealed that Dennis Wilson Jr. was traveling eastbound on RT-52 just west of Rider Road in a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he crossed over the double yellow lines striking a 2006 Hyundai Accent head-on, which was operated by Jason G. Exley, age 28, of Walden, NY who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Dennis Wilson Jr. was transported to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation resulted with the above charges being filed against Mr. Wilson.

Dennis Wilson Jr. was arraigned bed-side by County Court Judge Craig Brown who remanded Wilson to the custody of the Orange County Sheriff  Office in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond upon his release from the hospital.  Wilson was ordered to return to the Town of Montgomery Court on 03/08/17 at 4:30 PM.

Assisting at the scene were the Town of Montgomery Police Department, Village of Walden Police Department, Walden Fire Department, Mobil Life, Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit, and Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.
