Obituary, Marie Boshart Churton

 

 

Bangall, NY – Marie Boshart Churton, 97+, died on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT.

She was the daughter of Clarence and Barbara (Schneider) Boshart of Poughkeepsie, NY; she married Walter Churton of Bangall on March 19, 1942. Mr. Churton predeceased her on Oct. 27, 1977.

She was the mother of Jeffery Churton who died at childbirth, Jean Churton Moore of Reno, NV who predeceased her and Dr. Michael W. Churton and Mrs. Elaine Churton of Tampa, Florida.

She is grandmother of Lindsay Churton Cinal (Tampa), Michael P. Churton (NYC) and Bevan (St. Cloud, FL) and Jason Funderburk (Boone, NC). She is the great grandmother of Sullivan Lee Cinal and Scotland Frances Cinal of Tampa as well as the aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Marie was predeceased by her sister Dorothy B. MacLeod, and her five brothers including Kenneth, Vincent, Richard, Joseph and William Boshart of Poughkeepsie.

Marie attended Poughkeepsie High School and Krissler Business School. She worked for Pine Plains and Red hook banks for many years.

Marie and Walt owned Churton Store in Bangall and later owned and operated the Hunns Lake Bar and Boat Rentals-a popular locale during the summer months.

She was very active in the Hunns Lake Association, Meals on Wheels, Forever Young Club of Stanfordville and coordinated the distribution of health equipment and supplies out of her home for the Stanford Health Committee Loan Closet.

She loved living on Hunns Lake and could be seen pulling Lily pads from a rowboat along the shore.

As per her wish, a graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2017 in Stanford Cemetery, Stanfordville, NY. A reception will follow at Uncle Sonny’s in Stanfordville to celebrate “Mimi’s” life.

In lieu of flowers Marie has requested that donations be made to the Stanford Rescue Squad.
