Obituary, Robert William Hunt

 

 

Robert William Hunt, 77, of Pawling passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT.

A resident of the Pawling/Patterson/Mahopac area for over 25 years, Bob was born in Mineola, NY on November 1, 1939 to Lawrence M. and Gwendolyn R. (Wollard) Hunt, and was the youngest of their five children.

Robert served in the US Army and then Army Reserve, and after being honorably discharged, worked as a horse trainer for more than two decades, becoming an avid horse racing enthusiast. From this passion grew the opportunity to become a world traveler working in the international horse transportation business.  Bob took great pride in showing off his photography skills by shooting all the amazing places he visited, as well as snapping many memories through the years for family and friends. He later went on to become a field specialist at the insurance company, NYS Insurance Fund in White Plains, NY, and retired after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his son Christopher Hunt and his wife, June, of Franklin, MA; his daughter Deborah Misuraca and her husband, Joe, of Medford, MA; his sister Pat Fink of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; his two granddaughters, Emma and Jennifer Hunt, whom he loved very much; his long-time companion Denise Bronson of Pawling; his sister-in-law Margaret Hunt of Easton, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Noelle J. Hunt, his brother Lawrence Hunt, two sisters, Gwendolyn Kley and Aileen Dobler, and two brothers-in law, Maurice Kley and Monroe Fink.

Funeral arrangements are private under the direction of the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.
