Yorktown man charged with unlawfully collecting unemployment insurance

PRESS RELEASE

Fishkill, NY, – On March 5, 2015, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested 33-year-old Kent N. Wolfson, of Yorktown Heights, New York, for Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Falsify Business Records 1st Degree, both Felonies.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint received by the New York State Department of Labor Special Investigation Division which indicated that Wolfson unlawfully collected over $11,500 worth of unemployment insurance benefits between October of 2012 and May of 2013. False business records were generated by Wolfson when he certified weekly that he was totally unemployed when in fact he was gainfully employed.

Wolfson was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Fishkill Court on March 10, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
