Obituary, Nadezda “Nada” Davis

 

Nadezda “Nada” Davis, 87, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT.

Nada was born on December 8, 1929 in Brno, Czechoslovakia to Arsenij and Antonie (Hajek) Gorin.  Nada came to the United States 1939 when she was 9 years old, and came to Pawling in 1954.

She graduated from New Paltz where she received her a Bachelor Degree, and became a psychiatric nurse practitioner, working at the former Harlem Valley State Hospital in Wingdale for 20 years, and then Danbury Hospital for 10 years before retiring and becoming a private duty nurse.

Nada was an avid gardener and loved reading murder mysteries. She was a member of the Pawling Garden Club and Christ Church of Quaker Hill, past president and member of the Pawling Historical Society, and a long-time volunteer for the Pawling Library and the Pawling Resource Center.

Nada is survived by her three sons, Peter (Sarah) of LaGrangeville, Steven (Barbara) of New Canaan, CT, and Christopher (Andrea) of Bedford, NY; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Jack, Olivia, Henry, Morgan, Mackenzie, and Ryan; and her brother-in-law, Michael Fanelli of Bristol, CT.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Tana Fanelli.

Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Sunday, January 29th1-3 and 5-7 PM.  A Memorial service will be held in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Nada may be made to the Pawling Resource Center or Christ Church.
