PRESS RELEASE 

On January 22, 2017 the New York State Police in Kingston arrest 24 year old JOSE L. COLON of Kingston, NY after an investigation into his violating a stay away order of Protection.

On January 18, 2017 New York State Police responded to the Motel 19 located on State Route 28 in the Town of Ulster for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival Troopers determined that COLON had subjected a woman, whom he is court ordered to stay away from, to unwanted physical contact. COLON struck the woman in her face with a closed fist and prevented her from calling 911 by striking the phone out of her hand as she was attempting to make the emergency call. COLON had fled the area prior to the arrival of police and an arrest warrant was issued for him.

On January 22, 2017 with the assistance of the City of Kingston Police Department COLON was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, a felony and the misdemeanor of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. COLON was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court and remanded to the Ulster county Jail for lack of bail.
