White Plains man more than three times the legal limit of intoxication in wrong-way crash

Mount Pleasant, New York – On January 11, 2017 at approximately 8:40 p.m., New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks responded to a report of a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.

Troopers located a two-car collision in the area of mile post marker 7.1 in the northbound lanes. An investigation indicated that 22-year-old Sawyer R. White of White Plains was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and struck 62-year-old Michael Ioannidis head-on. White was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Ioannidis was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  White was transported to Westchester Medical Center for an evaluation and released.

White supplied a breath sample that yielded a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .27%, more than three times the legal limit of intoxication.

He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and several other vehicle and traffic offenses.  White is scheduled to appear in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court on January 19, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
