Bridgeport man arrested following burglary complaint in Millbrook

Millbrook, New York – On January 2, 2017, New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Jaquan R. Rosado, age 24, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree, Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1stDegree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4thDegree, all felonies.On January 2, 2017 at approximately 8:00 p.m., a Millbrook man arrived at Troop K Headquarters to report that someone had unlawfully entered his garage and had stolen his Kawasaki motorcycle several minutes before he arrived at the station.  The victim immediately gave police a description of the offending vehicle and the information was broadcasted to area patrols.

Troopers observed a white Ford Econoline van which matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle traveling south on the Taconic State Parkway in the area of Arthursburg Road. An attempt to conduct a traffic stop was made however the driver failed to comply with the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and sirens.

The van crossed the center median of the parkway in the area of Beekman Road and started to drive southbound in the northbound lanes.  An East Fishkill Police vehicle partnered with a State Police cruiser were operating northbound in the northbound lanes.  The suspect subsequently struck the East Fishkill Police vehicle and caused extensive damaged to the patrol car.  The East Fishkill Police officer was not injured.

In the area of Todd Hill Road, the suspect exited the van and led police on a brief foot pursuit before he was taken into custody by members of the State Police and the East Fishkill Police Department.

The suspect, identified as Rosado, was transported to the East Fishkill Police Department where they charged him with attempted Assault in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving and leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident.  Rosado posted $700 cash bail at the East Fishkill Police Station and was transported to the State Police barracks in Poughkeepsie.

After Rosado left the East Fishkill Police Department, it was discovered that he had given the officers counterfeit currency for station bail.  As a result, the East Fishkill Police Department additionally charged the defendant with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree.

A State Police investigation indicated that the Ford Econoline Rosado was operating was stolen from Bridgeport, Connecticut. The defendant was additionally found to possess counterfeit $100 bills.  Rosado was arraigned in the Town of Washington Court before Judge Feigelson and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.  He is due to appear in court on January 6, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
