PRESS RELEASE

Harrison, NY – On Thursday, December 29, 2016, at approximately 6:53 a.m., New York State Police were dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run auto collision that occurred on Interstate 95 just north of Exit 18B (White Plains/Mamaroneck Avenue), where a tow truck driver was struck.

At approximately 6:18 a.m., Vincent’s Towing had received a direct call from a patron’s insurance company reporting a disabled vehicle located in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95.  The tow operator responded to that location to assist the disabled motorist. While loading the vehicle on to the tow truck, the tow operator was struck by a passing motorist who subsequently left the scene.

The tow truck operator, 32-year-old Salvatore R. Brescia, of Yonkers, New York, was transported to Greenwich Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

New York State Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Brescia’s death. To be eligible from the Crime Stoppers reward, anyone with information is asked to call the NYS Crime Stoppers hot line at 1-866-313-TIPS. Tipsters can also visit https://nyscrimestoppers.org/ and leave a confidential tip.

The accident was investigated by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU).
