State Police investigate fatal Dover collision

PRESS RELEASE

 

Dover, New York – On December 23, 2016 at approximately 7:20 a.m., State Police from the Dover Plains barracks were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to Weil Road for a vehicle reported to be upside down in a partially frozen pond.Troopers arrived on scene and observed a vehicle approximately 5’ off of the roadway submerged in the pond.  The New York State Police SCUBA Unit was contacted to assist with extricating the vehicle from the icy pond.   Subsequent to the vehicle being removed from the water, two male occupants were located inside of the vehicle deceased. The victim’s names are being withheld at this time pending notification to their next of kin.

The collision is being investigated by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit.  It is unknown if drugs and or alcohol were contributing factors to the collision.

Also responding to the scene of the crash were members of the JH Ketcham Hose, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, Town of Dover Highway Department, and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner.
