Schodack man arrested following pursuit with stolen vehicle

Stuyvesant, New York – On December 22, 2016, New York State Police from the Kinderhook barracks charged 20-year-old Roscoe A. Quint, of Schodack, New York, with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3^rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer 3^rd Degree, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2^nd Degree, both Misdemeanors.

At approximately 2:35 a.m., Troopers patrolling State Route 9J in Stuyvesant observed a Chevrolet Suburban traveling southbound with no tail lights.  Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of State Route 9J and Route 9.  The SUV, which was marked as a Schodack Landing Fire Department vehicle, made a swift U-turn and started to travel northbound on Route 9J at a high rate of speed.

Despite having the patrol vehicle emergency lights and sirens activated, the vehicle continued north on Route 9J for approximately one mile before it lost control on a curve and exited the west side of the roadway.  The SUV struck an earth embankment and then Amtrak train tracks which caused the vehicle to roll multiple times.  Quint was ejected from the rolling vehicle and immediately fled on foot into a wooded area.

Following a brief foot pursuit that lasted for about a half of a mile, Quint was taken into custody.  Quint was transported by Valatie Rescue Squad to Albany Medical Center where he was treated and released.

An investigation revealed that Quint had unlawfully entered the Schodack Landing Fire Department and stole the suburban. The defendant was charged with the above listed charges and was also issued numerous vehicle and traffic tickets. Additional charges against Quint for criminal activity that occurred in Schodack are under investigation by the New York State Police in Troop G.

Also on scene were members of the Valatie Rescue Squad, members of the Stuyvesant Fire Department, and Officials from AMTRAK.
