Poughquag man charged with Driving While Intoxicated following crash investigation

Southeast, New York – On February 27, 2015, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks were dispatched by Putnam County 911 to investigate the report of a three-car personal injury auto crash that occurred on State Route 22 just north of Interstate 684.

Troopers arrived on the scene and conducted an investigation which revealed that William J. Carey, 60 years old, of Poughquag, was traveling northbound on State Route 22. Two vehicles traveling in front of Carey were slowing down for northbound traffic. Carey struck the rear of a Jeep Cherokee operated by 22-year-old Christina R. Bond of Yorktown Heights, New York. The Jeep was subsequently pushed into the rear of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta operated by Albert D. Pignatello of Kent, Connecticut.

Following a detailed investigation, it was discovered that Carey was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was transported by Brewster Rescue Squad to Danbury Hospital with a back injury. He was issued traffic tickets ordering him to appear before the Town of Southeast Court on March 26, 2015.

Bond was charged with 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation, when it was discovered that she was in possession of marihuana, hashish, and controlled substances without proper prescriptions. Bond was transported to Putnam Hospital with minor injuries. She was issued appearance tickets ordering her to appear before the Town of Southeast Court on March 12, 2015.
