Bronx man charged following bank fraud investigation

PRESS RELEASE

On March 3, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Byron P. Kempson, age 29, of the Bronx, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny 4th Degree, both Felonies.

An investigation revealed that Kempson had cashed several counterfeit checks at the Tompkins Mahopac Bank branches located on Route 55 in the Town of LaGrange and also on Route 82 in the Town of East Fishkill.

Kempson stole approximately $3,547 from the two banks by cashing the forged checks.

Kempson was arraigned at the Town of LaGrange Court, where Judge O’Hare remanded him to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $40,000 cash bail or $80,000 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Town of LaGrange Court.
