**UPDATE** State Police investigate fatal collision in Columbia County

Kinderhook, New York – On Thursday December 1, 2016 at approximately 10:30pm, the New York State Police at Livingston investigated a two car fatal crash on State Route 9 at the intersection of County Route 28 in the Town of Kinderhook.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek being operated by 74 year old Judith Gagliardi of Chatham NY was traveling southbound on State Route 9, making a left hand turn on to County Route 28, when it collided with a 2004 Honda Civic traveling northbound while being operated by 27 year old Donna Preuss of Philmont, NY.  Judith Gagliardi, her passenger Wilma Westover of Niverville, NY, and Donna Preuss were taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.  Two passengers in Preuss’ vehicle, 17 year old Sabrina  Martinez and 28 year old David Zukowski both of Philmont were transported to Albany Meidcal Center and are also being treated for their injuries.  13-Year-old Dawson Stallman, a rear seat passenger in Preuss’ vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation, but thus far there is no indication either driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs.  Investigators are attempting to determine if the passengers in both vehicles were wearing their seat belts.  Anyone with information pertaining to the collision is asked to contact the New York State Police in Livingston at 518-851-2001.

In addition to the New York State Police, emergency service providers at scene included the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Niverville Fire Department, Valatie Fire Department, and the South Schodack Fire Department, as well as the Valatie, Greenport, and Chatham Rescue squads.  Also assisting at the scene were the Columbia County Fire and EMS Coordinators.
