State Police arrest Hudson man for weapon and drug charges

On 11/30/16, New York State Police at Catskill arrested SHYQUAN MILLER, age 22, of Hudson, NY. MILLER was arrested as the result of a traffic stop on State Route 23 in the Village of Catskill. During the traffic stop, the trooper detected an odor of marihuana and asked MILLER to exit the vehicle. MILLER exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, during which he discarded evidence, Miller was taken into custody after a brief struggle resulting in minor injuries to the Trooper behind a private residence located on Hudson Ave in the Village of Catskill. MILLER was found to be in possession of heroin and marihuana at the time of his arrest. In addition, a loaded .380 caliber handgun was located inside the vehicle that MILLER had been operating. MILLER was charged with ASSAULT 2nd DEGREE (Class D Felony), CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON 3rdDEGREE (Class D Felony), TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE (Class E Felony), RESISTING ARREST (Class A Misdemeanor), OBSTRUCTION GOVERMENTAL ADMINSTRATION (Class A Misdemeanor), CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 7th DEGREE (Class A Misdemeanor) and UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF MARIHUANA (Violation).

MILLER was arraigned before T/J Izzo in the Village of Catskill Court and was remanded to the Greene County Jail on $75,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond.  MILLER was given a preliminary hearing date of 12/06/16 at 11 am.
