Two Investigated in LaGrange Robbery

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a robbery that occurred in the Town of LaGrange at approximately 12:50 pm on 11/29/16.
On the above date and time the Sheriff’s Office and State Police responded to the Smokes for Less store at 1520 Route 55 in LaGrange in response to a 911 call for a robbery. Preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect entered the store with a baseball bat and threatened the clerk, after which they stole cash and fled the scene in a white sedan. The description of the car and suspect was broadcast to all police agencies, and a short time later a vehicle matching the description was stopped by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police. The vehicle contained two (2) people, who are currently being interviewed in connection with this and other recent similar incidents throughout Dutchess County.
At this time the investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau, and the identities of those involved will be withheld pending the outcome of the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police and Town of Poughkeepsie Police, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
