Round Rock, Texas – Joseph Duffield Bauer, known to most as “Joe”, 87, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016. A funeral service celebrating Joe’s life will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 2:00pm at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 3201 Sunrise Road, Round Rock, Texas 78665. Joe was born February 24, 1929 in Albany, New York, to the late Roland and Agnes Cunningham Bauer. He is also preceded in death by the love of his life, Lee Bauer, and their granddaughter Emily Kaup. Joe and Lee were married on June 21, 1952 in Pawling, New York. Together they raised their family in the New York area until moving to Texas in 1989. They lived in the Wingdale and Poughquag areas of New York. Joe served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a plumber steamfitter/maintenance supervisor for Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center for the New York State Department of Mental Health, from which he retired. He was a long time member of the Harlem Valley Golf Club. He was a member of the Pawling Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight. Joe was also a volunteer fire fighter for the town of Poughquag. Upon moving to Texas, Joe and Lee became residents of the Anderson Mill area near Austin and most recently moved to Round Rock, Texas. In Texas, Joe was a member of the Georgetown Country Club for more than 20 years where he served on the Board of Directors. Some of his favorite memories were with the “guys at the club.” Joe was rarely seen without a cold Coors Lite can and his daily purchase of scratch off lottery tickets. For the final years of her life, Joe lovingly cared for Lee while she battled Alzheimer’s. He took care of her through the years of suffering and loss, and tried to maintain normality through it all. Joe was very proud of the large family he created with Lee and often proclaimed, “Well Lee, look at what we started”. Joe leaves behind many to carry on his legacy: his children, Charles Bauer and his wife Rebecca Guy of Allen, Texas, Sally Jimenez and her husband Willie of Round Rock, Linda Kaup and her husband Steve of Round Rock, and Nancy Brown of Garland; his grandchildren, Freddie Jimenez and his wife Marie, Bryan Jimenez and his wife Emily, Lisa Weiershausen and her husband JR, Steven Kaup, Stacie Kaup, Matthew Kaup and his wife Julie, Connor Brown and Logan Brown; his 13 great grandchildren; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
