Stockport man arrested following welfare check

Greenport, New York – On November 5, 2016, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested 30-year-old Jonathan M. Doty of Stockport, New York, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree, and three counts of Criminal Contempt in
the 2nd Degree.

Troopers were dispatched to the Mobil Gas Station in Greenport to check the welfare of a distraught female who was dropped off at the gas station with her two small children.  An investigation indicated that the defendant drove the victim and her children to the gas station while he was intoxicated.  Additionally, Doty violated a valid court order of protection by having contact with the woman and her two children.

Doty was arrested for Aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree for operating the vehicle with a revoked driving privileges due to a previous DWI related arrest.

Doty was arraigned in the Town of Greenport Court and remanded to the Columbia County jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.  He was directed to return to the Greenport Court on November 7, 2016.
