As some may point out, this information is being released 12 days after the incident. As you can imagine, we took this incident rather seriously and wanted to investigate the various implications of the information we had come across and whether there was cause for alarm, and how to proceed when no crime had been committed at the time.

On the evening of October 5th, at about 6:00 pm East Fishkill Police responded to a call of a teen observed with a knife at the East Fishkill Soccer complex on Rte 52 in Wiccopee. Upon investigating, the officers located three teens sitting in the bed of a pick-up truck in the parking lot. The three teens were identified as two 18 and one 17 year old all from Fishkill. While questioning the three, officers located two banners bearing Nazi symbols, two knives and other old military items. They also located some rifle ammunition but no weapon to use it in. The 18 year old owner of the truck from Poughkeepsie, walked up the scene a short time later. A second vehicle belonging to one of the 18 year olds parked next to the truck was found to have a .22 caliber rifle which had no ammunition with it and was locked in the trunk of the car. The rifle was legally purchased by the 18 year old and was legally possessed.
The parents of all the teens were notified of the incident and the circumstances. The items located by police were all lawfully purchased and possessed.
As a follow up to this incident it was learned that one of the 18 year olds was identified as doing damage to a soccer field pennant earlier in the day. He was later charged with Criminal Mischief, a Misdemeanor.
At this time, after interviewing these subjects there does not appear to be any imminent threat to the users of the Soccer Complex or patrons of other East Fishkill Recreation facilities. As is always the case, if you see something that concerns you, say something! Call us at 221-2111.
