Connecticut Man Faces Drug Possession Charge

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Connecticut man on a charge of drug possession.

On September 25, 2016 at 2:06 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Irwin stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Sodom Road in the Town of Southeast.

During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy observed white powder around the nose of a passenger in the vehicle. An investigation revealed that the passenger, identified as Selvin Donis, 23, of 87 Franklin Street, Danbury, Connecticut was in possession of a quantity of cocaine. The deputy arrested Mr. Donis and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
