Lauren McNamara of Holmes, NY ran a personal-best time in the Lakers’ 11th place finish.

OSWEGO, NY (10/01/2016)– Lauren McNamara of Holmes, NY ran personal-best times in the Lakers’ 11th place finish at the 38th Annual Mike Woods Cross Country Invitational hosted by Geneseo at Letchworth State Park. Lauren McNamara once again led the team across the finish line, placing well inside of the top-100 (60th) in a race with nearly 300 runners. The senior ran a time of 24:01.7 on the 6K course, which is slightly longer than the normal 3.1-mile (5K) race for women. McNamara’s time is a personal-record in the distance by more than a minute. Just under 20 seconds later, Morgan Bronner crossed the line for Oswego. She also placed inside the top-100 by clocking a time of 24:19.8. The junior’s time was good enough to set a personal best, shattering her previous record time of 24:59.5. Jamie Kasza, Sylvia Pericles and Marissa Welsh completed the scoring-five for Oswego. Kasza’s time of 24:41.4 and Welsh’s 25:24.4 with set first-time marks in the distance, which each freshman will hope to improve on during their careers. Pericles’ time of 25:23:.5 is her third-best time of her career and best since the 2013 season. Oswego’s next meet with be in Glassboro, N.J. in two weeks‘ time when it travels for the Rowan Interregional Border Battle on Saturday, October 15.
