Wappingers Falls woman arrested for identity theft and petit larceny

Wappinger, New York – On September 12, 2016, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Cassandra A. Coons, 31 years old, of Wappingers Falls, New York, for Identity Theft 2nd Degree, a Class E Felony, Petit Larceny and Unlawful Possession of Personal ID in the 3rd Degree, both Misdemeanors.

On September 7, 2016, State Police were contacted by a Wappinger man who reported that Coons, an acquaintance of his, used his debit card number to make payments on her prepaid cell phone account.  An investigation revealed that Coons made over $800 in fraudulent charges using the victim’s Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union debit card number between August of 2015 and September of 2016.

Coons voluntarily surrendered herself to police on September 12th and was issued an appearance ticket directing her to appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on September 28, 2016.
