Poughkeepsie… As part of the ongoing work on North Avenue (CR 72) and Sherow Road (CR 73) in the Town of Pleasant Valley, the Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced that starting Monday, September 12th, a section of Sherow Road, approximately 160 feet west from the intersection of North Avenue, will be closed for bridge construction as well as the reconstruction of Sherow Road/North Avenue intersection. This section of roadway is expected to be closed until early December. The rest of Sherow Road, including the Town of Pleasant Valley Transfer Station and Highway Garage, remains open to traffic; motorists can access the road from the Salt Point Highway (Rt. 115) side of Sherow Road.

Also as part of the construction work, North Avenue will be reduced to one-lane of traffic with a controlled traffic signal for approximately two weeks starting September 12th. Message boards are in place on North Avenue alerting motorists to the upcoming lane closures. Motorists are advised to anticipate traffic delays and to consider alternate routes. The project originally began in the spring but unforeseen delays were experienced that halted project work for an extended length of time.
