Michael Denick, 94, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the N. Y. State Veterans Home in Montrose, NY.

A resident of Poughquag, NY since 2000, he was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 7, 1922 to George and Helen (Regenda) Denick.  Mr. Denick was an apprentice machinist at Westinghouse Electric in Jersey City until going into the U.S. Navy during World War II where he served as an aviation machinist mate  1st class from 1942-45.  After the war, he worked for Westinghouse Electric in Jersey City, retiring as a maintenance foreman. He married Doris V Schott in June 1945 in Jersey City; she predeceased him on August 9, 2015.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandpa, Mr. Denick was always ready with a joke, and was also the ultimate tinkerer, who could and would fix almost anything.

Mr. Denick is survived by his son Michael and wife, Lorraine, of Poughquag; his brother, Andrew and two sisters, Mary Borkowski and Suzanne Mota ; his granddaughter Elizabeth McGrath and her husband, Colin, of Poughquag; two great-grandsons, Colin and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Denick is predeceased by two brothers, John and George, and two sisters, Betty and Anne.

Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Wednesday, September 7th from 8-9:30 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling.  A burial will be conducted in the Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
