Mahopac Man Faces Drug Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Mahopac man on drug possession charges.

On August 2, 2016 at 8:53 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Irwin stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Bryant Pond Road in the Town of Putnam Valley. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Anthony V. Martin, 24, of 62 Craescot Way, Mahopac was in possession of heroin, crack cocaine and powdered cocaine. The deputy arrested Mr. Martin and charged him with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released pending a future appearance in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court to answer the charges.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
