Kent NY Man Charged With Driving While Intoxicated

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Kent man on a Driving While Intoxicated charge.

On August 3, 2016 at 10:05 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Christopher Tompkins stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 6 in the Town of Carmel. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Ever A. Javier Martinez, 17, of 238 Towners Road, Kent was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Javier Martinez and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
