Kent Man Faces Drug Charges in Patterson

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Kent man on drug charges.

On June 13, 2016 at 8:27 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Christopher Irwin stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 311 in the Town of Patterson. The deputy subsequently determined that the driver, identified as Jeffrey S. Storms, 41, of 18 Geneva Road, Kent was in possession of quantities of heroin and hypodermic needles. The deputy arrested Mr. Storms and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and with two counts of Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument, misdemeanors. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released in his own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Town of Patterson Justice Court to answer the charges.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
