Two Men Arrested On Felony DWI & AUO Charges by Sheriff’s Office

On Wednesday July 6, 2016 at 9:18pm a deputy sheriff on patrol was travelling on Cottage Street in the City of Poughkeepsie when a 2004 Ford, operated by Fidel Sanchez (33 yoa) of Poughkeepsie, NY  failed to stop for a stop sign on Allen Place and almost struck the patrol car.   The vehicle was stopped on Park Place and it was determined that Sanchez was intoxicated.
Sanchez was subsequently charged with DWI & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st both felonies as well as failing to stop at a stop sign and operating an unregistered motor vehicle both traffic infractions.

The DWI was a felony since Sanchez had a prior conviction for Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or more) on January 27, 2009 from Town of Poughkeepsie and the AUO charge was felony since his license was revoked on January 27, 2009 for the same conviction and he was intoxicated while operating the motor vehicle when he was stopped this time.

Sanchez was released after posting $700 bail and turned over to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police on an active warrant.   He is scheduled to appear in City of Poughkeepsie Court on July 27, 2016 @ 9:00am on the new charges.
