Southeast Man Faces Felony Drug Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Southeast man following an investigation into heroin sales in the county. In February, a deputy assigned to the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) developed information that a male subject was selling heroin from a residence in Southeast. The deputy was able to make contact with the subject and purchased heroin from him on several occasions during the next several months.On June 21, members of the NEU and the Sheriff’s Department Identification and Forensics Unit executed a search warrant on the suspect’s apartment and took him into custody.

Jason Inconstanti, 38, of Old Route 6 was charged with four counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and with four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, felonies. He was arraigned before Town of Southeast Justice Gregory Folchetti and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000.00 bail pending a future court appearance.

If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendant could face up to twenty five years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $30,000.00 for each charge.
