Obituary, Francis Edward Fallon

 

Francis Edward Fallon, of Red Hook, NY, formerly of New City, NY, died peacefully on June 22, 2016. Frank was the devoted and loving husband to Adelaide Monica Fallon (nee Haley). Born in the Bronx in 1926 and raised in Brooklyn, Frank was the son of Francis Patrick Fallon of Liverpool, England and Mary (nee Curry) Fallon of Dublin, Ireland. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Walker and her husband Lloyd of Twin Falls, ID. He was a graduate of St. John’s University in NY and Columbia University Law School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a 2nd Class Petty Officer aboard the USS St. Paul in the Pacific Theater. He had a long career as counsel and the Corporate Secretary of Curtiss-Wright Corporation. After retiring from Curtiss-Wright, Frank worked 10 years as an in-house attorney at Phoenix House in Manhattan, where he put his legal skills to work for people rehabilitating from substance abuse.

Frank and Addie were married for more than 62 years and were long-time residents of New City, NY before retiring to Red Hook, NY. Frank served on the Clarkstown Planning Board for many years and was a Committeeman in the Democratic Party. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Church of New City, where he was a tenor in the choir, and St. Anthony Church of Pine Plains, NY.

Frank is survived by his wife, Adelaide, of Red Hook NY and his six children: Joseph (Lisa) of Valley Cottage, NY; Stephen (Joan) of Charleston, SC; Francis (Anne) of New City, NY; Donna (Marcelo) of Towson, MD; Louise (Warren) of Pasadena, CA; and James (Theresa) of Broadview Heights, OH. Frank was also the beloved grandfather of 14 grandchildren: Joseph Fallon Jr; James Fallon; Elizabeth (Daniel) Bond; Patrick, Kristen and Colleen Fallon; Nicole and Mateo Batkis; Christopher, Peter and Michael Brown; and Nicholas, Monica and Bridget Fallon.

Frank was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first, regardless of the cost. He had a great sense of humor and a knack for making everything fun. He loved the outdoors and shared the joys of golfing, camping, hiking, skating, sledding and cross country skiing with his family. Frank worked into his 70’s to provide his children with the best in education and opportunity. Frank loved his family and his family loved him, completely.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 25, at 11 AM, at St. Augustine Church, New City, followed by burial at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, NY.
