Wednesday, June, 8 – 7:00 p.m. EXHIBITION ON SCREEN RENOIR: Revered & Reviled The Moviehouse, 48 Main Street, Millerton, NY (518) 789-0022 / themoviehouse.net Based on the collection at the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia Written and Directed by: Phil Grabsky Pierre-Auguste Renoir is known and loved for his impressionist paintings of Paris. These paintings count among the world’s favorites. Renoir, however, grew tired of this style and changed course. This stunning film – based on the remarkable collection of 181 Renoirs at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia – examines the direction he then took and why it provokes such extreme reactions right up to today. Young filmmakers from our local high schools explore a variety of issues that impact teens, schools and communities in a presentation of short documentaries. A civic education is essential to the preservation and improvement of our democracy.
The CIVIC LIFE PROJECT challenges students to “find their voice” through the creation of documentary film.
