Motorists Face Driving While Intoxicated Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the recent arrests of motorists on DWI charges.

On June 1, 2016 at 12:10 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich stopped a woman who had committed traffic violations on Route 301 in the Town of Carmel. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Jessica A. Windels, 43, of 671 Farmers Mills Road, Kent was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Ms. Windels and charged her with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the woman failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

On June 5, 2016 at 3:55 a.m., Deputy Radovich stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 6 in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Rossy M. Polanco-Detaveras , 27, of 12 Cleveland Street, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Ms. Polanco-Detaveras and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the woman failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arrangement.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
