“AS THE WARM WEATHER APPROACHES, PLEASE REMEMBER TO BE MINDFUL OF YOUR ATTIRE. THIS INCLUDES BOTH GENDERS. ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING DOVER HIGH SCHOOL SHOULD ADHERE TO THE DRESS CODE.”

1. Today is a “B” Day.

2. A representative from US Air Force will be visiting today during lunches. Please stop by to see the representative.

3. Today is SADD’s Grim Reaper Day – Everyday about 30 people will die in the United States due to alcohol related crashes. To represent that, throughout the day students will be pulled from their classes by the Grim Reaper. Those students will not speak for the remainder of the day. They will each represent 1 of the 30 people killed today. Each student will be wearing a bright green sign around them that will tell the true story of how someone has died due to drunk or drugged driving. Please be respectful of those choosing to participate in today’s event.

4. SAT Word of the Day: CIRCUMLOCUTION  – The word means indirect and wordy language.

5. Music Man – Full cast rehearsal today from 2-5 pm!! All cast members please attend! Tech rehearsals begin tomorrow – all crew stay after tomorrow.

6. Do you have old t-shirts you no longer wear? During these warmer months, the Senior Honor Society is in search of clean t-shirts to donate to those in need. Donation boxes can be located in the high school lobby, Ms. Murray’s room, and the dining hall from May 9th until May 20th. Please donate!

7. There will be a Leo Club meeting 5th period today in Mrs. Garnot’s room.

8.  Are you looking for volunteer work for the summer season? Dover School District offers a summer camp for current students called Camp Invention. Camp Invention will be held at Wingdale Elementary from July 18-22. Camp Invention Paid Interns and Volunteer Interns are needed. Stop by the guidance office for more information!

9. Attention all Sophomores and Juniors – Summer Scholar applications are now available in the high school guidance office. Summer Scholars is a summer program offered at Dutchess Community College from July 31st to August 5th. The program title “Global Terrorism: Causes and Consequences” is designed to challenge high school students. If you are interested in this program, please come to the guidance office to pick up an application packet. Applications are due in the guidance office by Wednesday, June 1st – NO EXCEPTIONS – so plan accordingly.

10. Community Service Opportunity –  Pawling Library is looking for volunteers ages 12-18 to help with summer programs that will run from July 5th through August 27th. Dates and time commitments are flexible. Interested students should complete and submit a 2016 Summer Volunteer Intern Application by Saturday, May 28th. Applications are available at www.pawlinglibrary.org or at the library.

11. Voting for the cutest Pet Photo has begin! Only 25 cents per vote! You can vote during lunch. Everyone is invited to particpate. Remember – all proceeds go to the Dutchess County SPCA. Let’s all help those homeless pets!
