Obituary, Grace J. Johnson

 

Grace J. Johnson, 90, of Manasquan, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, NJ. Grace was born in Brooklyn, NY. She worked as a teacher and guidance counselor at Millbrook School in NY for 13 years and retired to Onancock, VA for ten years before moving to New Jersey. She resided in Whiting from 1995 to 2002 then moved to Manasquan in 2002. She was a member of the Manasquan Woman’s Club, St. Denis Rosary and Altar Society, St. Denis Seniors and Manasquan Seniors.

Grace was predeceased by her husband, William D. Johnson; brother, Steve Dewhurst; sister, Marion Schmidt; and stepson, Mark Johnson. She is survived by her five children, Joseph O’Neill and his wife Helen of Cookeville, TN; Eileen Sinneck and her husband Michael of Delray Beach, FL; Nancy Shrader and her husband Charles of Englewood, FL; Susan O’Neill of Albany, NY; and Carol Herring and her husband Don of Mountain Lakes, NJ; 8 grandchildren, Michael, Meghan, Monique, Melissa, Inga, Julia, Allison and Christopher; and 3 great-grandchildren, Patrick, Hayley and Olivia.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10am at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 90 Union Ave. Manasquan, NJ. Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street in Manasquan is in charge of the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations to Compassionate Care Hospice, 400 W. Blackwell St. Dover, NJ 07801.
