Dear Pawling Parents and Community Members:

On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to thank you for taking the time to vote yesterday if you were able to do so. I also write to express appreciation for your vote to pass our 2016-2017 school budget. After much work preparing, revising, and presenting the District spending plan, it is rewarding to receive the community’s support. The Board, administration, and staff recognize that with that support comes an expectation to continue an open and transparent dialogue with the community about the continued academic progress of our students and the finances of your school district. We acknowledge the ongoing responsibility to maintain a constant focus on improving our school district in a manner that the community views as fiscally responsible and sustainable.

The 2016-2017 budget is designed to strengthen the academic offerings for our students and Proposition II includes opportunities to improve, expand, and properly maintain the capital assets of the District. With your continuing support, the District looks forward to strengthening our academic offerings and building capacity to offer a vibrant curriculum that engages all students in every discipline.

The passing of our school budget is not something we take for granted. It visibly marks the renewal of our District’s commitment to the community. We promise to work diligently and collaboratively to ensure your trust and respect as we work with the students of the Pawling community. The most important role of our District is to provide multiple opportunities, at all grade levels, to help students acquire the values, essential knowledge, and critical skills necessary to be informed and responsible citizens prepared to take the next steps in their education, careers, and lives in our diverse and changing society.

I remain confident that, with your involvement and support, the District will continue to build and sustain a quality educational program that provides multiple benefits to all students. Again, thank you for your approval of our 2016-2017 school budget and Proposition II for capital projects.

Sincerely, William M. Ward William M. Ward, Ed.D.
