Brooklyn woman arrested for attempting to cash fraudulent check

Wappinger, New York – On May 9, 2016, New York State Police from the Wappinger Barracks arrested Shannon B. Hibbert, 26 years old, of Brooklyn, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, and Attempted Grand Larceny 4thDegree, a Class E Felony.

On May 9, 2016, Troopers were dispatched to the Chase Bank, located at 1460 State Route 9 in the Town of Wappinger, for a report of a female subject attempting to cash a fraudulent check.  An alert bank employee recognized that Hibbert was attempting to cash the counterfeit $2020 check and immediately contacted police. Troopers arrived at the bank and placed Hibbert in custody.

Hibbert was arraigned before the Village of Wappingers Falls Court by Judge Sullivan and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.  Hibbert was ordered to appear before the Town of Wappinger Court on May 11, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
