Obituary, Theodore A. Cruz

 

SHERMAN, CT – Theodore A. Cruz, 69, a resident of Sherman, CT since 1996, died suddenly on May 11, 2016. He formerly lived in Stormville.

Born in Yonkers on June 29, 1946, he was the son of the late Theodore and Marie (Nuzzolese) Cruz. He proudly served in the US Army, and received the Army Commendation Medal for the time he spent in Vietnam. Theodore was a Quality Control Manager for the Maxwell House division of Kraft Foods in Tarrytown where he worked for 43 years until his retirement in 2008.

Ted was a former member of the Hopewell Reformed Church. He was a certified Coffee Grader for the NYBOT. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and bowling.

On December 6, 1969 at St. Margaret’s Church in Yonkers, Ted married Bonnie (Redding) Cruz. In addition to his loving wife of 46 years, he is survived by his children Caroline Cruz of Manchester, MA and Christian Cruz of Scotch Plains, NJ; his granddaughters, Felicity and Aiyla Cruz; his brother, Gary Cruz of Toms River, NJ; several nieces, nephews, and 2 great nephews; and his beloved dog, Princess. He was also predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Goldstein.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at 895 Route 82 , Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 am at the funeral home followed by military honors.
