Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges for Newburgh Man

PRESS RELEASE

State Police at Montgomery announce the arrest of Shamel T. Williams of Newburgh, NY on the charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the Second Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Williams was found to possess a loaded Smith & Wesson 40 caliber hand gun and an excess of 16 ounces of marihuana.

Williams was arraigned by City of Newburgh Justice Paul Trachte and was remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or bond. Williams is due to appear at the City of Newburgh Court on 05/09/16 at 9:30 AM.
