Obituary, Carin Marie Crimmins

Wednesday, April 20th 2016, Carin Marie Crimmins, beloved wife and mother, succumbed to her long time battle with renal failure. She was 57. Carin was born November, 16th 1958 to Herbert and Catherine Schaus in Bronx, NY. She spent her childhood in Katonah, NY where she had four brothers that she loved and her Dad was her hero. She graduated from John Jay High School in 1976 and then attended Southern Utah State University.

Carin married Robert Crimmins, also of Katonah, NY, July 21st, 1987 in Ormond Beach, FL. Carin had 3 wonderful children Tony, Robert and Amberlee, who along with her husband were by her side throughout her entire ordeal and becoming a grandmother to Addison Rose, who she loved dearly. Carin was a secretary for the law firm Anderson Banks in Mt. Kisco, NY until the birth of their daughter after which she became a full time Mom, residing in Purdys, NY then Dover Plains, NY, where she loved breeding and raising golden retriever puppies. They moved to Florida in 1998 to be closer to both sets of parents and lived in Port St. Lucie, helping run her husband’s cabinet company.

Fishing was truly one of her passions. She loved fishing at her parent’s house in the Keys, the rivers, beaches and offshore of Florida until she became ill in 2003. Carin was fortunate enough to receive a transplant liver in September of 2006. Her recovery was immediate and went on to catch her first sailfish 6 months later, in February of 2007. Three months after that she enjoyed a three week cruise to Alaska with her parents and husband, even after moving into a new home in Stuart, FL. She continued to enjoy traveling and offshore fishing and participated in some of the local sailfish and offshore tournaments aboard My Other Honey until 2014 when her kidneys began to fail. She went through dialysis treatments three times a week for over two years. She fought harder and with more determination than anyone could ever imagine. She will be sorely missed by family and friends, who knew that smile of hers could make gray clouds open to a shining sun.

Carin is predeceased by her maternal grandparents William and Eugenia Eirish of Utica NY, paternal grandparents Herbert and Helen Schaus of Katonah NY. Father in-law Thomas Crimmins of NY, mother in-law Barbara Magill and step father in-law Carl Magill of Ormond Beach FL.
