City of Poughkeepsie Woman Arrested for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument

PRESS RELEASE

04/27/16 – The New York State Police – Highland BCI announce the arrest of 30 year old, Cheron Williams, of Poughkeepsie, NY, for 5 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree (a class D felony) and one count of Attempted Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (a class E felony).

In September of 2015, the New York State Police – Highland BCI received a complaint from a bank in the Town of Lloyd that their institution had been experiencing instances of fraud amongst their Ulster and Dutchess County branches and that in particular, 5 checks that were passed by Cheron M. Williams on 09/01/15 at a Highland branch. Said checks purported to be payroll checks of a social service agency based in Rhinebeck, NY.  Investigation found that the all the checks were fictitious in their entirety and that Williams had the intent to unlawfully obtain funds from their deposit.  Investigation is ongoing at this time.

Williams was arraigned before Judge Rizzo in the Town of Lloyd Court and was remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $3,000 cash / $10,000 bond. Williams was ordered to appear back in the Town of Lloyd Court on 03/28/16 at 3pm.
