Plattekill Man Arrested for Impersonating a Police Officer

PRESS RELEASE

04/21/16 –  The New York State Police – Highland BCI announce the arrest of  52 year old, Jerry Eberhart, of Plattekill, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (a class B felony) and Fourth Degree (a class C felony), Criminal Impersonation in the First Degree (a class E felony) and three counts of Coercion in the First Degree (a class D felony).

On 04/20/16, the New York State police initiated an investigation into a complaint that Jerry Eberhart, of Plattekill, NY, had been impersonating as police officer for some time and further used his assumed authority as a police officer to repeatedly and unlawfully obtain narcotic prescription medication from a Plattekill resident under the intimidation of such authority.  On 04/21/16, Eberhart again unlawfully obtained narcotic prescriptions from the same victim and was subsequently found in physical possession of unlawfully obtained narcotic prescription pills when he was apprehended.  Eberhart was processed at SP Highland on the above charges.

Eberhart was arraigned before Judge Murphy in the Town of Plattekill and subsequently remanded to Ulster County Jail without bail.  Eberhart is scheduled to re-appear in Plattekill Court on 4/25/16 at 2pm.
