Obituary, Hazel Vera Osborne

 

PAWLING – Hazel Vera Osborne, 93, died on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Quaker Manor Nursing Home in Hyde Park.

Hazel was born on October 15, 1922 in Pawling, NY to George and Daisy McDuffy Osborne. A graduate of Pawling High School, she was a factory worker for Pawling Rubber Company.

A lifelong resident of Pawling, Hazel was a member of the Pawling Central Baptist Church. The former proprietor of L.A.Grand 5 & 10 c Store, she was also a devoted Crossing Guard in Pawling and worked in the school cafeteria. Hazel was a member of the Eastern Star of Brewster. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hazel is survived by her son, Jay Gruendle and his wife, Deborah of Pawling; her two grandsons: Scott Gruendle of Troy, NY and Jay Gruendle and his wife, Hilary of California. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Mia and Evan Gruendle and Luke Gruendle; her sister, Amy Snowdon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Alice Osborne, Russell Osborne, George Osborne, Ada Simonelli, Gerald Osborne and Emma Eldridge.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-5 pm at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling. The Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 4:30 pm.
