The Orange County Child Abuse Unit arrested a 29 year old man for Rape

On April 14, 2016, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit. which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Village of Goshen Police, City of Port Jervis Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 29 year old man for the class E Felony of Rape in the Third Degree and for the class A  Misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

State Police arrested and charged JONATHEN JONES of Middletown, N.Y. following a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline.  The investigation commenced in October 2015 and  over the course of the next several months in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services – Child Protective Services. The investigation revealed that Mr. JONES,  who identified himself to the 15 year old victim with a fictitious name, had impregnated her early in 2015 which resulted in the birth of  a child in November 2015. During the course of this investigation the true identity of JONES was determined and he was located at the Orange County Jail, incarcerated on unrelated charges. A warrant of arrest was obtained for Mr. JONES from the Honorable Judge Stephen Brockett of the City of Middletown Court. On April, 14, 2016, Mr. JONES was transported from the Orange County Jail, processed at the State Police barracks in Middletown and arraigned before the Honorable Stephen BROCKETT on the charges of Rape in the 3rd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Mr. JONES was returned to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 cash bail / $20,000.00 secured bond on these charges, to reappear before the City of Middletown Court at a later date.  An Order of Protection was issued by Honorable Stephen Brockett on behalf of the victim.
