Kinderhook man charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated following one-car collision

Kinderhook, New York – On April 3, 2016, the New York State Police from New Lebanon arrested 31-year-old William A. Hammell Jr., of Kinderhook, New York, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified Misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to State Route 9 in the Village of Kinderhook for a one-car collision.  An investigation revealed that a 2008 Infiniti was traveling north on State Route 9 when it traveled into the southbound lanes, exited the roadway, and struck a telephone pole.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Hammell, was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The defendant provided a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content
of .18% and was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Village of Kinderhook Court on April 18, 2016.
