Mahopac man charged with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs and drug possession

Somers, New York – On March 29, 2016, New York State Police from Somers arrested Patrick T. McDougal, 32 years old, of Mahopac, New York, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a Class D Felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Circumvention of Interlock, all Class A Misdemeanors.
Troopers responded to assist the Somers Police Department with a motorist changing a flat tire on Route 139. The Somers Police contacted the State Police for assistance when the driver of the vehicle, McDougal, exhibited signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation revealed that McDougal was impaired by drugs and in possession of a controlled substance.
McDougal was charged with Felony DWAI when a criminal history revealed two prior DWI related convictions from within the previous 10 years. Additionally, the defendant was found to be operating the 2010 Subaru with a revoked driver’s license and without a court ordered Interlock Device.
McDougal was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Somers Justice Court on April 4, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
